SynergyBlog takes a moment of pride to introduce you to Rachel’s 102-year old grandfather, James Kearney.
Grandpa Kearney is definitely the light of his family’s life. As he raised his 18 children, the Arkansas sharecropper had very little money, but a whole lot of spirit! Even though his family faced numerous racial challenges and had few resources, he raised the family with love and honor to God. Values they will never forget.
All of Grandpa Kearney’s children, except one, has completed college (many at Ivy League schools, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Vanderbilt). Several of them are attorneys.
Grandpa believed in God and education. He and Grandma Kearney believed that what’s in your soul and what’s in your mind would ultimately be the great equalizer in America. And they were right.
If you have a moment, please listen here: James T. Kearney on Tavis Smiley to dear Grandpa, as he celebrates the 100 Year Anniversary of the NAACP.

Dear Evongeval,
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I would love to have enough time to post more frequently. I submit to you my “excuse.” I am in the middle of writing my dissertation~and it’s a full time job! I love writing for SynergyBlog, and would do so on a daily basis if I had the time. Please stay tuned… there will be more postings coming starting this month… and more regularly!
I’ll be watching for you! Blessings…
Sweet blog. I never know what I am going to come across next. I think you should do more posting as you have some pretty intelligent stuff to say.
I’ll be watching you .
Dear Gregory,
Thank you so much for your comments. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you on Twitter… and an honor to share the legacy of my soon-to-be 103 year old Grandpa. It was difficult to answer your question about who has inspired me beyond my family. Many have, but no individuals have had the kind of impact on my spirit, my drive, my commitment to service, my desire to make the world a better place than my family. Anything that is good in me emanates first from my God, and then from my family.
God bless you, too!
Rachel
Dear Rachel,
It is a powerful excerpt of your Grandfather’s life and how he has cared and guided his family through a time many have forgotten or have chosen to, based on these words it is quite easy to deduce that this man has inspired many individuals including those who are beyond family ties. Thank you very much for the privilege; FYI he’s still inspiring as I type.
God Bless,
Gregory Edward Blackman-DeLeon
Thank you so much, Anita. I wish you’d heard the interview! I wonder why you were not able. Write to me and I’ll send you an audio file! Thank you for visiting SynergyBlog and God Bless!
Your grandpa looks great. I was not able to find the radio
interview. However, just from reading what you wrote, I
can tell in spite of the challenges he was determined to
have a loving, successful, grounded family.
Hi Rachel,
What a wonderful and touching interview! Thank you for posting this.
My Dear Cousin,
Grandpa thanks you for the very sweet compliment. I’ll have you know, he enjoys being a big success… We’ve had more traffic to SynergyBlog to see Grandpa than for any of our business ethics, leadership, branding, or marketing guidance!
It’s amazing.
I guess people all across America feel connected to Grandpa, and to his story. The hardships he’s overcome. The hope that gives them for their own lives….
We’ll just have to share him a little bit.
Rachel
Very nice picture…It’s nice to see how technology embraces all generations. In the past, this information would rarely have been shared with the world…It would have only been passed down through the family, my family.
look at the beautiful women and the wise elder , i am so happy for him .. he is a star at 102 years old .
Rosalind,
Thank you so much for the comment… and thank you for listening to Grandpa. The wisdom that he shares has sustained me throughout my life – in good and not-so-good times.
God bless. And thanks, again, for listening.
Rachel
It did my heart good to hear your grandpa. Thank you so much for sharing
